Some Things About Me

I am an idealist, a romantic, a beauty chaser and a storyteller. I grew up surrounded by cornfields, and still find magic in the way the wind makes the grass dance across the plains. I see all weather as beautiful in its way, and often find as much joy in the sound of rain and the feel of heavy air as I do a sunny day in springtime. I wear simple clothes and an analog watch, and will choose jazz over pop music every time. I see life as a gift, something worth treasuring both in the ordinary times, and the extraordinary. To me, beauty is not reserved for the uncommon, but is in every nook and cranny, around every corner, if only we have eyes to see it.

What This Means for You

In my photography, I want to capture the things that I have been given a heart for: honesty, vulnerability, truth. I'm interested in the real and lasting much more than the fabrications of AI or the trends of social media. What I capture, and what I deliver to my clients, is something that I believe will still hold up fifty years from now, because my photographs are focused on what is true, good and beautiful in this world, and in your life.

How I Shoot

My motto in photography is "Fewer, but better." My aim is not to deliver the most images possible, but, like a writer crafting a story, to choose the right images, the ones that capture not only the particulars of the event or individual, but their essence. It is my own conviction that the best of life is lived in the present, and I carry that into my creative work. When I'm with you, you are my focus, and that moment is the most important one I have, because it's the only one I actually have access to — ‌right now.

What I Shoot

There is so much in life that I love and am grateful for, and I count it a privilege to have the chance to capture much of it with a camera. While people are my specialty, and love stories and portraits could be called my bread and butter, I also photograph cars whose owners love them, products whose designers believe in them, and nature scenes that leave me without words.
