I'm not going to turn myself into another cliché by writing some over-dramatic blog post about the wonders of 2016. Words cannot express what happens to any man's soul in the space of a year, so I won't try at a failing errand. What I will do is leave you with some images that I made over these last months — from Elaine alone, so only beginning in May. Truth to tell, May of this year was the beginning for me, in a way. So that's where I'll start.

I'm a photographer — maybe because most of the time anything extraordinary happens in my life, I can only sit in silence. Creating photographs gives me something to do. And if nothing else, I have tiny, beautiful pieces of my yesterdays to look back at when my todays are dark.

I hope you have a beautiful tomorrow, and that it starts something good and lasting in your life.

Joel Timothy

I'm Joel, a storyteller from a rural town in northern Illinois, now based in Northwest Arkansas. I grew up spending a lot of time out of doors, and much of my indoor time with my nose in a book, two things that combined to create a passion for beautiful things and inspiring stories. I love capturing the real moments of life, in a way that reminds us that beauty isn't reserved for the extraordinary, but a part of everyday existence. In my writing and in my photography I seek to portray life as it truly is: totally miraculous, and wonderfully beautiful.
