Dwelling on Mountains

This has been a difficult year for me. The longest I’ve been through by far. And it isn’t over yet. In the middle of it all, I am thankful for all those who have been my family since coming to Arkansas. I’m thankful for every moment that I get to spend with these people, whom I love dearly. Last weekend I drove into the Ozarks, and spent a night and two days with many of them. The mountains were saturated with rain and fog, and the air was cold. But it was a warm time for me, and a needed respite. Here are some images I made that capture a piece of this restful time.

Geeky Things

  • Camera: Fuji X-Pro2

  • Lens: Fuji 90mm f/2 & Fuji 23mm f/2

  • Location: Castle Bluff; Jasper, AR

  • Process: all of the above images were edited in Lightroom using Fuji’s Provia as a base for colour, or Acros for the monochrome shots.

  • Notes: If you know me well, you may be able to guess that I was excited at the prospect of shooting the mountains through fog. Though it proved more difficult than I’d imagined it would, the images turned out all right. And now I get to think of Bilbo Baggins’ great journey every time I look at my desktop, and feel the wanderlust sink further into my heart.
